Assam to host baseball tournament
Guwahati, Jan. 13: Assam will host the first edition of the Indian Baseball Premier League in December this year, the Assam Baseball Association (ABA) announced here today.
“The league will feature 32 matches over 25 days while eight teams, including one from Guwahati, will participate in it,” ABA general secretary Ashma Begum told reporters here this afternoon.
The participating cities in the league, organised by the Amateur Baseball Federation of India (ABFI) in association with the Indian Baseball Association and ABA, are Guwahati, Mumbai, Calcutta, Chennai, Goa, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chandigarh.
The Indian Baseball President’s Cup will also be held in Assam in March to raise awareness about the game. “In the interim, we will make people aware about the game,” said secretary-general of ABFI Sudhir Kumar Mahendroo.
